While the season has started a few weeks ago, some big trades are still in sight. James Harden could well move before the end of the year, and 4 franchises are up for making a giga-trade. Here is a soap opera to follow closely.
It’s been a few weeks since the season started and even though it’s too early to learn any lessons, it’s still interesting to see the dynamics of the different franchises. The Warriors are not in the best position, the Heat is in big trouble and the Wizards seem to be on their way to play the bottom of their conference. But for some leaders, it is out of the question to stay that way.
This could be the case in Miami with Pat Riley, certainly not happy with the start of the season in Florida. same Jimmy Butler put out a hell of a rant, proof that the atmosphere should not be crazy in the locker room now. If that doesn’t work out, a big trade isn’t impossible.
But the Heat are not the only franchise that could take action in the coming weeks. Kevin O’Connor has been chatting with quite a few insiders over the past few days and is bringing back some valuable information. An insider, for example, entrusted him with 4 teams who would be interested in the idea of showing a giga-trade.
There are teams that are discreet and could set up a trade for a superstar. This weekend, I asked executives which teams can take action on a blockbuster trade. The Pelicans, Heat, Knicks and Mavs received votes.
We find the Heat, who would not say no to a big finish in order to take a new step. As for the Knicks, they dream of playing for the playoffs and returning to the front of the stage. After deluding a few games, it looks like the team is coming back to Earth, which could encourage the front office to take action.
Finally, Mavs and Pelicans are in a bit of the same situation. Franchises that own stars, but still seem right in the West to do something. It would be different with one more star in their workforce.
