Football in mourning, Karl-Heinz Schnellinger dies: one of the protagonists of Italy-Germany 4-3

The world of football is mourning the passing of Karl-Heinz Schnellinger, who died at the age of 85 at the San Raffaele hospital in Milan. He had been ill for some time. His name takes us back to the 90th minute of Italy-West Germany, semi-final of the 1970 Mexican World Cup, when he scored the 1-1 goal which took the legendary match to extra time. In Italy he lived the most important years of his career: brought to Italy by Roma after starting out at Cologne, he played in 1963-64 on loan at Mantuabefore returning to the Giallorossi the following season, then from 1965 to 1974 he played in Milan with which won the championship 1967-68, three times the Italian Cup (66-67, 71-72 and 72-73), the Cup Winners’ Cup 1967-68 and 1972-73, the Champions Cup 1968-69 and the CIntercontinental oppa 1969.
