Mesut Özil is about to jump at Arsenal London. A move to Fenerbahce Istanbul is under discussion, but there are also rumors about his home club Schalke 04. The ex-national player has now commented on them.

A return to his former club FC Schalke 04 is not an issue for Mesut Özil at the moment, despite the crisis in the Royal Blues. “I don’t want to steal the show @ seadk6,” joked the professional footballer on Monday evening when asked by a fan on Twitter about Sead Kolasinac’s successful Schalke comeback. “No, to be honest, I will always have sympathy for @ s04 and I wish you all the best from the bottom of my heart,” said the 32-year-old, who has played for Arsenal in the Premier League since September 2013. “But it’s really not an option for me right now.”

The former Schalke professional Özil had also played with his buddy Kolasinac at the Londoners. In Schalke’s 4-0 win against TSG 1899 Hoffenheim, Kolasinac, on loan from Arsenal, celebrated his Bundesliga comeback after three and a half years last Saturday.

Mesut Özil: Speculation about Fenerbahce

At Özil there was recently speculation about a move to Fenerbahce Istanbul. As a child, he already stuck to Fenerbahce, emphasized Özil and compared the club with Real Madrid in Spain. The 2014 world champion is under contract with Arsenal until the end of the season. Coach Mikel Arteta had not registered him for either the Premier League or the Europa League.

He had “never regretted” his decision to move to the Gunners on the island. There have been many ups and downs, said the former DFB national player in the Twitter question and answer session. “And to be honest: The last games before the Corona break in February & March 2020 were really fun.”
