Police officers intervened in the emergency room of the “San Marco” hospital following the report of a woman injured by a stab wound.
The victim, a 23-year-old from Catania, was hospitalized with injuries to her right and left biceps, as well as various injuries to her right forearm and lower abdomen. During the victim’s interrogation, a phone call to the police headquarters operations room provided a turning point in the story: a woman declared that she was the victim’s sister and that she had injured her during a violent argument, then throwing the knife into a flowerbed.
At that point other patrols intervened at the home of the latter, a 47-year-old from Catania, who was immediately stopped. Following the woman’s instructions, the officers recovered the knife used in the attack, finding it in a flowerbed and proceeding with its seizure. Investigations revealed that the two sisters, already on bad terms, met in the street where a violent argument broke out. The victim allegedly attempted to hit his sister with a baseball bat, who responded by pulling out a kitchen knife, hitting her several times.
The 47-year-old was arrested on charges of aggravated assault and reported in a state of freedom for the crime of carrying a weapon or objects capable of offending. The Public Prosecutor ordered that the woman be subjected to the measure of house arrest at her home, awaiting the validation judgment before the investigating judge.
