Boston Celtics have to do without several bigs after the Corona case

The Boston Celtics have to do without three bigs for several games after a positive corona test of a player. But coach Brad Stevens had positive news to report about Kemba Walker.

According to Adam Himmelsbach (Boston Globe) Robert Williams tested positive for the coronavirus. According to the information from Himmelsbach, the center does not show any symptoms, but has to go into quarantine until it can show several negative tests and is approved by the team’s medical staff.

There are no other corona cases at the Celtics, but two other big men will have to go into quarantine for at least seven days due to the league’s corona protocol. This means that Tristan Thompson and Grant Williams will also be out for several games.

Against the wizards on Saturday night, Semi Ojeleye started alongside Daniel Theis instead of Thompson, and Tacko Fall saw more time in the center position. Still, the Celts’ big rotation is now very thin for several games. Boston will face the Heat, Bulls, Magic (2x) and the Knicks up to and including next week on Sunday.

At least there was positive news from Kemba Walker. As Coach Stevens reported, the point guard was released for a return to training. After longstanding knee problems, Walker has been pain free for “over a month”.

However, the Celtics announced that they did not want to rush a comeback of the 30-year-old. “We’ll see how the training sessions go and all that,” said Stevens. When Walker will return to the floor is still open.
