Amorebieta defeats Portugalete and reinforces its leadership

Amorebieta and Portugalete left all their duties for the second half in the derby they played this Saturday in Urritxe. A first part ‘of procedure’, with the two teams with great precautions, gave way to a second period in which everything happened, goals included. In the end, the contest fell for the local side, whose winning inertia does not cease. There are already three consecutive wins for Iñigo Vélez’s men, who will continue one more day at the top of the table. Meanwhile, the jarrilleros, return to Florida empty and chain the third defeat in as many days.

The clash started with the two teams showing ambition on the pitch, trying to gain control of the ball. From that duel, Portugalete came out the winner, having more possession during the first half. A fact that, however, did not allow him to generate too much danger in the face of an Amorebieta who was once again very solvent in defensive tasks.

The precautions of the two teams made the presence in the areas almost testimonial. In addition, the derby had a not too high pace, from which he only woke up with isolated flashes. The first of them came in the 19th minute, in a good action from the jug box.. Thaylor overflowed on the right wing and put a low cross that Saizar cleared at the near post. The ball was dead at Salado’s feet, but his shot was taken out again by Ibarra’s goal in a display of reflexes.

It was difficult for Amorebieta to find connections in attack. But, in the absence of play, his greatest danger came from set pieces. Midway through the first half they enjoyed a couple of corners in which they disturbed Mediavilla, but without clarity. They were about to score, yes, in 39 ‘. After a lateral foul well put to the pot by Larruzea, Orozko took a crossed head that went brushing the base of the stick. The first half died with another arrival for Portugalete, in a low center of Rozas from the left that nobody got to finish off in a small area.

Everything that did not happen during the first forty-five minutes, happened after passing through the changing rooms. The Amorebieta came out with intensity and drive, and also quickly reflected it on the scoreboard. In 47 ‘, Zarra hit a good ball from the right side so that Unzueta, in an action of enormous skill, put the spur to advance his team.

Those of Vélez de Mendizabal entered a phase of clear dominance of the spherical and enjoyed at least two other very clear occasions to have increased their income on the scoreboard. In 58 ‘, Iker Unzueta himself stood in the hand-in-hand with Mediavilla. He tried to sting the ball over him, but the archer stuck out his hand and avoided his second target. Only three minutes later, the gualdinegro meta was again the protagonist. He had to go three-quarters of the field to clear the ball, but he smashed it into Zarra’s body. The side of the zornotzarras came to step on the area, but when trying to cut back he ran into a Mediavilla feline, who saved the ball.

The Portugalete, despite being dominated, did not give up its efforts. It was difficult for him to get to the vicinity of the Saizar area, but each time he did, he gave a sense of danger. He also managed to equalize the contest with a superb goal from Thaylor. The vase-keeper released a whip from afar that inevitably slipped through the same squad.

The goal gave wings to Asier Santana’s men, who cuddled to try to turn the score around. A couple of minutes later, in a counterattack, Musy fired hard, but Saizar put his fists in to deflect for a corner.

When those on the left bank were better, the second came for the locals. After a good combination in the media area, Mikel Álvaro changed the game to uncheck Unzueta on the side of the area. His center at the first post was hunted by Obieta, anticipating the defender, putting the zornotzarras in franchise again. Asier Santana reacted immediately by making a triple change to revitalize his team and go back for the tie.

However, there were still things to happen. The game took a new script twist with eleven minutes to go. It was when the referee, much protested from both sides, sent off Iker Unzueta with a direct red on understanding that he struggled with Murua and took his arm out for a walk.

The Amorebieta then threw their good collective work to practically tie up Portugalete and cancel the few arrivals that the gualdinegros were able to generate, remaining with a new victory in Urritxe, which is still unconquered territory this season.
