All players will meet this Saturday in Vyškov, where they will complete a weekly preparatory camp. After its completion, the staff will be narrowed on December 12, and a day later, the selected 28 players will fly to the venue of the tournament in Edmonton. In the end, three goalkeepers and 22 players will be entered on the field in the final roster for the World Cup

“This year’s season is very specific, which also affects the nomination for the World Cup. In addition to player performance, we must also consider covid-19. That is why a wide staff will take part in the camp in Vyškov. In addition, many players played only a few matches due to the coronavirus pandemic, “said Karel Mlejnek.

He had a positive test for covid-19 last week, so he is now in home isolation. Therefore, he will not be able to start the camp in Vyškov, but during it he should join the team and travel to Canada with him on December 13. “The isolation ends on Monday morning and I hope that at that time I will be able to inform the district doctor that I am asymptomatic and that I will be able to go to Vyškov to see the team,” believes the head coach.

During the camp, all players and members of the implementation team will be tested three times by PCR, and before entering the plane, everyone will have to prove themselves by three negative tests according to the championship regulations, “explains team manager Otakar Černý.

The Under-20 Ice Hockey Championship is returning to Canada. When do Czechs play?

The team awaits a special regime even after arrival in Edmonton, where everyone undergoes a mandatory four-day quarantine at the hotel. The Czech team will not set off on the Rogers Place ice until December 18, 2020.

“During the four-day quarantine in Edmnton, everyone will have to be alone. With my assistants and fitness trainer, we have prepared online programs for players. Whether it will be individual workouts in the room or meetings through applications. We are ready, “reports Mlejnek.

“The conditions will not be easy, but they are the same for all teams. Together with the fitness trainer, we will prepare a program for the players’ rooms to spend the quarantine actively and reduce as much as possible any problems with the subsequent transition to ice, “says Mlejnek, who took over 20 before the season after Václav Varaď and the first Junior World Championships awaits him.
