Women’s tennis tournaments unite the categories with men’s

Women’s tennis tournaments will unite the men’s categories from next season, so instead of five levels there will be only four. This was announced by the WTA association, which runs the women’s circuit. However, rewards and ranking points will not change.

The elite Premier Mandatory and Premier 5 categories will be merged into the WTA 1000 from next season, following the example of the men’s Masters. According to the ATP, the WTA 500, WTA 250 and WTA 125 categories will also be newly introduced. WTA will also introduce a new logo today.

A possible unification of the male and female circle would significantly simplify sponsorship agreements or income from television rights, but it would also be difficult due to different rules.

In addition to these two organizations, tennis is run by a number of others, led by the ITF (International Tennis Federation), which includes, for example, grand slams and team competitions.
