STVV-Beerschot postponed after corona wave ravages Ratten, will Eupen-Genk follow? | Jupiler Pro League

Jupiler Pro LeagueTomorrow evening’s match between STVV and Beerschot will be postponed. The Pro League confirms this in a press release. Beerschot had asked for a postponement because the team is being ravaged by a corona wave and that request was granted. Eupen-Genk may also be moved from Wednesday evening to a later date for similar reasons.

“The STVV – Beerschot AV match from the Jupiler Pro League on Tuesday December 15 has been postponed by the calendar manager. This happened after a request from Beerschot AV after at least 7 A-core players tested positive for Covid-19. In accordance with the Covid-19 Protocol and Federal regulations, the club submitted an application, after which the calendar manager decided to postpone the game. The new date will be communicated later ”, according to the press release.

On Saturday, Tarik Tissoudali, Frederic Frans and Wouter Biebauw were missing in Mouscron because they had tested positive for Covid-19. But it didn’t stop there. Beerschot confirmed eight additional infections yesterday after a new test round. In the corridors you can hear that it concerns six players and two staff members. According to our information, Raphael Holzhauser, Pierre Bourdin, Musashi Suzuki and Dario Van den Buijs would be four of the infected footballers.

Irresponsible risks?

Remarkable: the four players mentioned above all came into action at Mouscron. Some apparently already showed certain corona symptoms. During his press conference after the match, trainer Hernan Losada had already indirectly indicated that a few boys were not feeling so well. You can therefore ask yourself whether people on the Kiel did not take irresponsible risks by having the pawns involved show up anyway. Loris Brogno, third keeper Antoine Lejoly, physical coach Pieter Jacobs and video analyst Bart Plasschaert have also been infected with corona.

By the way, there is a good chance that STVV-Beerschot will not be the only match of the coming midweek matchday that will be postponed. Racing Genk also knows today whether it is allowed to visit Eupen on Wednesday or not. The Pandas’ match against Zulte Waregem last weekend was postponed because seven positive cases were recorded among the Oostkantonners. According to the most recent report, the number of infections has risen to eighteen, including thirteen A-core players. Today there is a new test.
