New ATP player council starts work without ex-president Djokovic

Djokovic had been re-elected as a candidate for the election, but had declared his resignation early on. He was ahead of the ATP, which then decided to only admit players who do not belong to any other comparable organization. Djokovic regretted his resignation, which he justified as follows: “I definitely don’t want to provoke any conflicts.”

Representatives of the top 50 in the ATP Players’ Council are Roger Federer (Switzerland), Rafael Nadal (Spain), Félix Auger-Aliassime (Canada) and John Millman (Australia). Places 51 to 100 represent Pablo Andújar (Spain) and Gilles Simon (France). The president and vice-president will be elected at the first meeting in early 2021. After Djokovic’s resignation, the South African Kevin Anderson initially took over the presidency.
