However, his team principal tot Wolff is convinced that Lewis Hamilton will eventually secure a new Mercedes contract for 2021. After his victory at Imola and celebrating Mercedes ‘seventh consecutive constructors’ championship, Hamilton caused a stir by saying that there is ‘no guarantee’ that he will remain in Formula 1 after the last race in Abu Dhabi next month.
Hamilton said: “I don’t even know if I’ll be here next year, so right now it’s not really a concern for me whether Toto will stay on as team boss.”

Hamilton was referring to the fact that team boss Toto Wolff told a journalist on TV that he will probably step down as team boss of the German team. While Hamilton has questioned his own contract negotiations, Wolff has said for months that he has been in talks with Daimler about reconsidering his role with the team.
