Lev Lukin, a reviewer of the Russian media “Championat”, has expressed the opinion that the Continental Hockey League (KHL) club “Dinamo” in Riga has problems on all lines that affect the team’s performance.
It has already been reported that the Rigans have gone on a four-game trip with a mixed line-up, as there are currently 15 hockey players on the list of injured. Also, the head coach Pēteris Skudra and two of his assistants – Aleksandrs Nizhivijs and Raimonds Vilkoits – are not with the team. Before that, the team was forced to spend some time in quarantine. The trip is quite unsuccessful – 0: 3 against Minsk “Dinamo”, 1: 5 against Chelyabinsk “Traktor” and 2: 7 against Ekaterinburg “Avtomobilist”.
“Dinamo” in Riga is one big problem. The club torments itself, finishing last in the league with two victories in 16 games, and suffers KHL. The league is hardly happy to see the hopeless latter in its ranks, given that the team is quarantined from time to time. There is no point in talking about the problems of the game, because there is still no team. Someone is sick all the time, “Dinamo” is supplemented by hockey players from time to time, but there is no team from which Ant would form a fighting gang through regular intensive training and motivational speeches. The coxswain himself is currently in quarantine, ”the journalist writes.
“Rigans have five goalkeepers, but none of them is safe. Defending a lot of foreigners, the team does not have any good level of offensive defenders (even Matthew Mayonnaise does not live up to expectations), but they let in a lot. No one is convincing in the attack either, if only veteran Lauris Dārziņš, with the support of Zeka Michel and Konstantin Komarek, is still trying to do something. But again, they are good only against the background of other Dynamo attackers. It is possible that when Riga gathers in full force and the training process stabilizes, then the situation will no longer be so hopeless. But I’m afraid it’s too late, “says Lukin.
With seven points in 16 matches, “Dinamo” takes the last, 11th place in the Western Conference. Today in Nursultan at At 15:30 Latvian time, Rigans will finish a four-game tour with a game against the local “Barys”.
