The last stage of the season in Germany will be canceled at the World Rallycross Championship / Article / LSM.lv

The final stage of the season scheduled for December in Germany was canceled due to a pandemic at the World Rallycross Championship, the International Automobile Federation (FIA) announced on Wednesday. Another change in the calendar won the laurels of the champion in the “Supercar” class for the convincing leader in the overall standings for the Swedish Johann Christoferson.

The last race at the World Championships took place in mid-October in Barcelona, but at the end of the season both the stage in Belgium and the Nürburgring in Germany, where the race was scheduled for December 12 and 13, were canceled.

The FIA said that the organizers were considering the possibility of postponing the race, but made sure that this was not possible. With the rapid increase in the number of people infected with Covid-19, the situation was not suitable for the competition, explained Mirko Markforts, the managing director of the Nürburgring track.

In Germany, the world championship stage is expected to be held in 2021.

Before the stage scheduled for Germany, Christopher had almost guaranteed a 27-point lead over his closest follower, his compatriot Matthias Extrem, in the overall standings. 30 points are awarded for winning the stage.

It has already been reported that the FIA will be looking for a new marketing partner in rallycross next year, as the cooperation with IMG will end at the end of the season.
