With a great playoff campaign, where he was invaluable in obtaining the title for the Lakers, Rajon Rondo should increase his salary. The leader will thus make a cross on his « player option » to 2.6 million dollars and, according to Frank Isola, the Hawks are ready to offer him a contract of 15 million dollars over two years!
But the leader would like to stay in Los Angeles. Not to the Lakers, but rather to the Clippers, who could offer him their « mid-level exception » to $ 9.2 million for next season.
Would he take all of this total or a large part, the “mid-level exception” being able to be divided between several players? What is certain is that he will double or even triple his salary, and that he would do good for Tyronn Lue’s troop, Kawhi Leonard having called for a real organizer for the playoffs.
Rajon Rondo is expected to receive a significant offer from the Atlanta Hawks ($15 million for two years guaranteed) but according to a source, Rondo remains focused on potentially joining the Clippers. He could possibly get the mid-level from LAC.

Player option : possibility for a player to activate (or not) the last year of his contract, in order to end his lease or to become a “free agent” one year in advance.
Mid-level exception : envelope of 9.3 million dollars available to recruit all NBA franchises that do not pay luxury tax. They can use it on one or more players. A team that pays the luxury tax has only 5.7 million. This is the punishment for being already above the limit set for the luxury tax.
