ÖVV men narrowly miss Olympic ticket

Alexander Horst and Julian Hörl are the only Austrian beach volleyball players taking part in the Olympic Games in Paris. Due to a narrow defeat in the final of the Nations Cup in Jurmala, Austria’s men’s team, weakened by the absence of Martin Ermacora and Robin Seidl, missed out on a possible second ticket.

Beach volleyball players miss Olympic ticket

In the final of the tournament for an Olympic starting place, there was a 1:2 defeat against France on Sunday after a golden set. Timo Hammarberg/Moritz Pristauz celebrated a 2:1 victory against Remi Bassereau/Julien Lyneel, Christoph Dressler/Philipp Waller lost their match against Arnaud Gauthier-Rat/Teo Rotar 1:2. In the deciding match, Waller/Hammarberg had to admit defeat to Gauthier-Rat/Rotar 10:15 after an early lead.

Before that, there was a 2-0 win against host Latvia in the semifinals. The ÖVV women were eliminated in the semifinals on Saturday.
