one month after Roland-Garros, Hugo Gaston is back in Paris

A month ago, Toulouse’s Hugo Gaston came out of anonymity thanks to his nice career at the Roland-Garros tournament. The young tennis player is back in the capital for the Paris-Bercy tournament.

Hugo Gaston is back in competition in a French tournament. The 20-year-old Toulousain revealed himself to the general public and many media thanks to an exceptional course at the last Roland-Garros tournament, last October. At just 20 years old, the left-hander had defied the predictions by eliminating in particular Stan Wawrinka during the 3rd round, before being eliminated with the honors in the eighth-finals at the end of an unforgettable match in suspense against the Austrian Dominic Thiem, No. 3 worldwide.

A first round against the world number 15

After playing in a Challenger tournament in Hamburg (elimination in the round of 16, on October 28), the left-hander with devastating cushioning returns to Paris for one of the major tournaments on the circuit, excluding Grand Slam. The Toulousain benefits from an invitation to participate in the Masters 1000 of Paris-Bercy. Hugo Gaston, now ranked 161st in the world, will be opposed in the first round to the Spaniard Pablo Carreno Busta, world No. 15.

Hugo Gaston, new licensee at Stade Toulousain Tennis

After his epic last October on the clay courts of Roland-Garros, Hugo Gaston was entering a turning point in his career. He decided to leave his club in Blagnac to join the infrastructures of the Stade Toulousain Tennis, and the professional players who play there. Among them, Benjamin Bonzi, ranked 180th in the ATP, who will also play this tournament in Paris-Bercy by facing this November 2 in the first round the Argentinian Frederico Coria (90th worldwide). A tournament which is played in very particular conditions, since the closed door is imposed for all the matches until the final, on November 8 next.
