HSV surrenders victory in Kiel late

HHöhenflug stopped, second draw in a row: Hamburger SV did not get more than 1: 1 (1: 0) in the northern duel of the 2nd division at Holstein Kiel. Newcomer Moritz Heyer (43.) had initially brought the overall too unimaginative team of coach Daniel Thioune into the lead, while Joshua Mees (90. + 1), who had just been substituted, made up for the clever storks in a hectic final phase.

Even in the fifth attempt before the international break, HSV did not achieve the longed-for first second division win against Kiel, but the Hanseatic League remained four points ahead of VfL Osnabrück. A good week after the 2-2 in the derby against FC St. Pauli, HSV showed that the setback has apparently left its mark – especially on the offensive there was a problem. Kiel can live much better with the point and is now fourth.

HSV takes the lead through Standard

“We know about Kiel’s strengths and therefore have to be careful,” Thioune had said before the game – and so HSV did not take full risks. The guests had more of the game, but Kiel skillfully narrowed the space and prevented the decisive passes to the top. In addition, the storks were always waiting to quickly combine forward via key player Jae-sung Lee. Fin Bartels (26th) then had the first good chance of the game for the home side.

Otherwise the game went on for a long time without any real highlights. No wonder that HSV needed a standard situation for the lead shortly before the break. After a corner from Sonny Kittel, Jeremy Dudziak crossed again and Heyer had no trouble nodding off to his first HSV goal – with the first real opportunity for the red pants.

Joker Mees stands out late

Despite the goal, Kiel then acted much more courageously and increased the pace with Lee, the Hamburgers were not always safe. Terodde and Co. could hardly even provide relief. Kiel ran more and more desperate – and was rewarded by Joker Mees in stoppage time.
