PARIS – Russian Daniil Medvedev, winner of the Masters 1000 in Paris on Sunday, is ranked 4th in the world in the ATP ranking published on Monday, still dominated by Serbian Novak Djokovic.

With this first title won in 2020, Medvedev overtakes Switzerland’s Roger Federer and matches his best career ranking, reached in September 2019.

At 33, Djokovic, despite his absence in Paris, equaled the record of American Pete Sampras, making it official on Friday that he would end the season in world first place for the 6th time.

“Djoko” also became the oldest player to finish a season at the top of the world hierarchy.

Defeated in the final in Paris, the German Alexander Zverev remains in 7th place in the world but he now has 1606 points ahead of 8th, Russian Andrey Rublev.

The Canadian Milos Raonic is enjoying the greatest progression in the top-20 with a gain of three places (14th), thanks to his semi-final in Paris.

This is his highest ranking for the 29-year-old since March 2019.

This week’s only event is the modest ATP 250 tournament in Sofia, Bulgaria, which will feature just one member of the top-20, the Canadian Denis Shapovalov, 12th in the world. The second seed of this tournament is another Canadian, Félix Auger-Aliassime. Vasek Pospisil will also be in the competition.
