2022 World Cup Qualifying Results: Brazil Beat Venezuela 1-0

Brazil is unbeaten in the 2022 World Cup Qualifying Conmebol zone. Most recently, they beat Venezuela by a thin score of 1-0.

At the Morumbi Stadium, Sao Paulo, Saturday (11/14/2020) morning WIB, Brazil threatened in the first minute. Danilo fired from outside the penalty box, but Venezuela goalkeeper Wuilker Farinez was able to secure the net.

Brazil continues to press, and in the 4th minute Thiago Silva has a chance to score. Taking advantage of a corner kick, the Chelsea player’s header soared.

Richarlison managed to break into Venezuela’s goal in the 8th minute, but the referee disallowed it for offside first. The game continues, the score is still 0-0.

Brazil just returned to create opportunities in the 29th minute. Roberto Firmino almost scored with a long-range shot, but Farinez brilliantly managed to save the net.

Five minutes later, Richarlison had another chance. Getting a good crossing in the penalty box, the Everton striker’s final finish went wide on the left side of the Venezuelan goal.

In the 43rd minute, Brazil scored again. This time through Douglas Luiz, but the referee ruled him out again after a first foul.

Venezuela had a chance shortly after by Yeferson Soteldo, but Brazil goalkeeper Ederson Moraes easily got over his shot. The first half ended in a goalless draw.

In the second half, the Brazilian attack continued. In the 61st minute, Gabriel Jesus came close to opening up the lead, but his header from close range went over the net.

GOAL! Brazil finally took the lead in the 67th minute. A cross from the right is cleared by Darwin Machis, but the ball turns to Firmino, who calmly shoots the ball straight into Farinez’s goal.

Winning one goal, Brazil tries to keep pressing. However, until the match was over, no more opportunities were created. The 1-0 score confirmed the victory of Tite’s squad.

These results make Brazil lead the Conmebol zone standings with a perfect score, which is 9 points from three matches. Meanwhile, Venezuela is in ninth place with the same points as Bolivia, which is the caretaker.
