Štybar will ride the Vuelta for the fifth time, he will make up for not participating in the Tour

The three-time world champion in cyclocross in 2012 made his debut in the Big Three races on the Vuelta. He last rode it last year, when he took the overall 55th place.

By starting on the Vuelta, Štybar will make up for his absence from the Tour de France, where he was missing due to a sore knee, and the cancellation of the famous classic Paris-Roubaix, which was originally supposed to go on October 25. His renunciation of coronavirus opened the way for him to continue his participation in the Vuelta.

Sagan won the premiere at Giru after more than a year of victory

“Štyby had a great desire to go on the Grand Tour this year after a knee injury deprived him of the Tour de France,” said Rik Van Slycke, the sports director of the Belgian team.

Stybar’s tasks will include helping the spurter Sam Bennett, who will try to follow up on the performances from the Tour de France, where he won the scoring competition. The Irish rider thus prevented the Slovak star Peter Sagan from attacking the eighth green jersey.

The eight-member Deceuninck-Quick Step will also include three debutants on the Grand Tour – Italian Andrea Bagioli, American Ian Garrison and German Jannik Steimle.
