Marine Corps ‘pulverizes’ world record speed marches

The Marine Corps has broken the world record for speed marches at the naval site in Den Helder. “Broken? No, pulverized! What an achievement.”

The old record speed marches – running a marathon in camouflage clothing, on chests and with a backpack containing 18.2 kilos of weight – stood at 4 hours and 16 minutes. The record was held by English Marines.

Those days turned out to be child’s play for the Dutch Marine Corps. The military ran the marathon in an official time of 3 hours, 58 minutes and 55 seconds. The Corps not only ran for the honor, but also raised money for cancer research. Watch the march below.
