Ocotlán, Jalisco

They will train Jamaicans to practice Badminton, the Municipal Council made a general invitation to the population to attend this Friday, September 6, the Municipal Coliseum where a workshop will be held to instruct on this sport, with hours of 11 am and 4 p.m

The Director of Sports, Ernesto Velázquez Medina said that he seeks to publicize this sport to expand the sports offer in the municipality:

“The aim is to publicize the rules, the sport and start practicing it. The city council through the Sports Department is going to invest in a kit to be taking it to different parts of the municipality, to schools; for example now that we are doing the rounds on Tuesdays, in which the children are leaving that the parents could stay practicing badminton in a space that we are looking for in the main square ”.

He reported that the training will be given by Francisco Javier Orozco Flores, who trains this sport at CODE Jalisco, that it will have no cost and that in addition to learning, it will be carried out with a movable court that will be brought by members of the state instance.

He said that they seek to disseminate this sport in order to offer another alternative to those who practiced on the Fronton court located on the Malecón and that was removed to build Avenida Libertad:

“There were requests from those who said“ hey they took away my fronton court ”,“ when did the fronton court ”; As they see that we are doing various events of different sports, the concern comes to say: this sport when. That is why the thorn entered me. It is a sport similar to tennis, to fronton, which is played with a racket and occupies a smaller space and can be done on multipurpose courts, in this case of the Coliseum we can put two courts ”.

Ernesto Velázquez Medina reported that badminton will continue to be promoted in the municipality, through tournaments and trainings in schools.
