“The Clippers had no answer to the Unicorn.” Viewer evaluates Porziņģis performance in Latvian’s first “play-off” series – Basketball – Apollo.lv – Sports

Watts provided ratings not according to the usual 10-point scale in Latvia, but according to the letter scale, in which “A +” is considered to be the highest possible mark.

In Vata’s rating, Luka Dončičs was naturally at the highest mark, who played a great series of playoffs, gaining an ankle injury, which did not prevent the Slovenian from going on the field and taking the lead.

Porziņģis, on the other hand, has been marked “B +”. Watts emphasizes that in terms of performance, the Latvian definitely deserves a higher mark, however, his limited participation in the series has reduced the rating.

“Porziņģis ‘injury changed the series. There is no room for debate here. The Clippers had no answer for Unicorn,” Watts began explaining Porziņģis’ assessment.

The spectator emphasizes that in the first match Dallas was in the lead before Porziņģis was expelled from the hall and the Latvian had noticed to collect 14 points and six balls under the baskets for a limited time.

Porziņģis also demonstrated high accuracy in the second match of the series and helped the Mavericks to win with 23 points. In the third game, when Dončičs suffered an ankle injury, the Latvian shone again, scoring 34 points and 13 rebounds, but that was not enough for Dallas to win.

“Kristaps Porziņģis didn’t go on the field anymore, because he tore the meniscus in the first game. The unicorn played two great games, fighting an injury. That he knows if Dallas would go further with KP on the field, but the fight would definitely be fiercer,” Vats concludes.

The Mavericks pair will meet with the Denver Nuggets as a follow-up to the Clippers and the first match in the series will take place on Friday night. 4 Latvian time.
