Novak Djokovic roasted for the celebration

Djokovic was rarely upset in his 6-1 6-4 6-1 over Bosnian world number 109, with the latest win extending his 2020 unbeaten run to 24 games.

The Serbian superstar then proceeded to perform his usual post-match celebration of shoving both arms from his chest into each side of the stadium, though some heard him fall with no one in the stands.

The controversial star said ahead of the tournament that she would continue the celebration even in the absence of the crowd.

“Look, I’m going to keep doing this because I just – I don’t know. I think it’s part of the routine, “Djokovic said.

“It is also part of me that I pay tribute and thanks to the match, the pitch and the occasion”.

Many fans disagreed with his explanation, however, taking to social media to suggest that the 33-year-old was “simply the worst” and that he was celebrating for an “imaginary crowd”.

The world number 1, who won his fourth title of the year at the Western & Southern Open on Saturday, improved to 24-0 this season with the win.

Later Djokovic insisted: “Do I want to keep the winning streak? Of course I do. But do I think of it as a priority every single day? No.

“But there is, it’s an extra motivation for me and pushes me to play even stronger and even better and play with the right intensity in every game.”

Next up for Djokovic is Britain’s Kyle Edmund, who defeated Alexander Bublik in four sets earlier in the day.

But one significant absence in the photo was the lack of female representatives.

And that’s because as it stands, the PTPA only currently represents the game of men.

The decision was labeled “out of tune” by former Australian doubles champion-turned analyst Todd Woodbridge.
