A strong security operation is set up at the Central Criminal Court of Lisbon, on the Campus of Justice, where at 9.30 am the trial of Rui Pinto, creator of the Football Leaks platform, begins.
In addition to the many agents of various special forces of the PSP, strategically placed at different points of the Campus of Justice, more than three dozen communications professionals will be at the door of the building where the first session of the trial will take place. .
Due to security issues and the health rules imposed by the covid-19 pandemic, the number of journalists authorized to enter the room is reduced, so the professionals chose to draw up a list, on the order of arrival, which will dictate the entry.
The first journalist on the list arrived at the Campus of Justice at 4.30 am to guarantee a place in the courtroom, where only ten communication professionals will be able to attend.
Journalists who are unable to enter the room will be able to attend the session in a room in another building of the Campus de Justiça, using a video conference system.
Rui Pinto, who through the Football Leaks electronic platform released thousands of confidential documents from the football world and alleged tax evasion schemes, is accused of 68 crimes of improper access, 14 of violation of correspondence, six of illegitimate access and even for computer sabotage to Sporting’s SAD and for extortion of the Doyen investment fund.
