Bardet gets out with a concussion

Dhe French hope Romain Bardet has dropped out of the 107th Tour de France. The 29-year-old captain of the AG2R team crashed on the mountain stage to Puy Mary on Friday and lost 2:30 minutes to overall leader Primoz Roglic from Slovenia. As his team announced in the evening, Bardet suffered a concussion, which must now be examined more closely.

Before the stage, Bardet was only 30 seconds behind in fourth place in the overall standings. The French hope for the first home win since Bernard Hinault 1985 for this year has finally been dashed after the previous third Guillaume Martin (Cofidis) lost a lot of time on Friday.

Previously, the stars Thibaut Pinot (Groupama-FDJ) and Julian Alaphilippe (Deceuninck-Quick Step) had said goodbye to the race for yellow. Bardet, who is moving to Team Sunweb for the coming season, reached the Tour podium in 2016 (2nd) and 2017 (3rd), but then no longer met the great expectations.
