With Argus eyes (newspaper Junge Welt)

Would you trust this man? Hermann Winkler, President of the Saxon Football Association, is happy about personalized tickets (8/8/2020)

Last week this column closed with the announcement that we will remind the managing director of the German Football League (DFL), Christian Seifert, and the club representatives of their words that all restrictions on fan rights are only temporary.

As soon as the reminder has been called into the country, the first association official comes around the corner with the idea that personalized tickets can also be retained after the pandemic. Yes, we all know that Hermann Winkler, as President of the Saxon Football Association, is not a representative of the DFL. From the fans’ point of view, however, he is also a representative of football, which more and more supporters are demanding that it change. Clubs from the Bundesliga downwards are members of his association.

How can a football fan trust the representatives of this football when such contradicting statements come from officials within a week. Not at all, must be the conclusion.

Mr. Winkler, you too are “only” an elected association official and should be voted out for such words. Even better, you get ahead of it and take your hat off and leave football to people who do not ignore fan rights and have a better feel for the fan soul.

It keeps coming true: a door that has been opened once is never closed again. That was and is no different with the new police laws of the countries, which were justified with the threat of terrorism and which are now naturally also used in other ways.

Football fans who fight for their rights are always leading the way in defending civil rights. And that’s why they will continue to watch every football official with eagle eyes.

“Sport free!” From the fan lawyer.
