Win 2-1, Die Roten Bullen to Semifinal

RB Leipzig advanced to the semifinals of the Champions League after winning 2-1 over Atletico Madrid. Tyler Adams became the hero of De Roten Bullen thanks to a late goal.

The Leipzig vs Atletico match in the Champions League quarter-finals is presented at Estadio Jose Avalade, Lisbon, Portugal, Friday (14/8/2020) in the morning WIB. The two drew 0-0 in the first half.

Leipzig, who appeared dominant, were able to score a goal first through Dani Olmo’s header in the 50th minute. Atletico equalized after Joao Felix took a fine penalty in the 71st minute.

The Red Bull Team confirmed the victory two minutes before the match was over. Tyler Adams became the hero of this German representative. Leipzig won 2-1 and made it through to the semifinals to meet Paris Saint-Germain.

The course of the match

Leipzig took the initiative to attack at the start of the first half. The first threat was spread by Leipzig when the match had just entered the 4th minute.

Renan Lodi was not good enough to block Christopher Nkunku’s free kick. The ball actually leads to Marcel Halstenberg, who is standing in front of Jan Oblak’s goal. However, his kick still soared far.

Atletico replied in the 10th minute. Renan Lodi’s free kick from the left side met Stefan Savic’s head.

Savic’s header was still too weak so that it was easily secured by Peter Gulacsi. Atletico had another chance in the 13th minute.

The collaboration of Lodi and Yanick Carrasco on the left was able to break through Leipzig’s back line. Lodi pulled a bait to Carrasco in the penalty box.

The Belgian player then took off a hard kick at the near post. Gulacsi was swift to reduce this threat by warding off the ball.

Leipzig is still dominant until the game enters the middle of the first half. Even so, they seemed difficult to break through the strong defense of Los Rojiblancos.

In the 23rd minute, there was a violent clash between Savic and Marcel Halstenberg during an aerial duel. The two players immediately lay on the field with their heads that looked bleeding. Fortunately, after receiving treatment, both Savic and Halstenberg were able to continue the fight.

Towards the break, the situation had not changed much. This made the match ended 0-0 in the first half.

Leipzig immediately kicked off at the start of the second half. They build attack very well from the back line.

Their short bait reached Marcel Sabtitzer on the left side of the Atletico defense. He released a measured pass which Dani Olmo was able to greet.

Goal!!! Olmo’s header was lodged in the right corner of Oblak’s goal. Leipzig lead 1-0.

In the 56th minute, Dayot Upamecano tries to spread threats through long-range shots. Oblak still embraces this effort.

Behind, Atletico tried to appear more attacking by including Joao Felix. Felix was able to turn on Diego Simeone’s troops’ attack line.

His cooperation with Diego Costa’s short passes penetrated the Leipzig back line. Felix’s movement in the penalty box had to be tackled by Halstenberg.

Referee Szymon Marciniak pointed to the spot. Felix himself stepped in as executor.

Goal!!! Felix’s penalty shot swiftly into Leipzig’s right corner, even though Gulacsi was actually able to guess the direction of the ball. Atletico equalized 1-1.

Disastrous arrives for Atletico in the 88th minute. Starting from overlap Angelino, the ball is given to Tyler Adams who is in front of the penalty box.

Goal!!! Adams’ kick ball hit Savic and outwit Oblak. Leipzig returned to lead 2-1.

Leipzig were able to maintain their advantage with the remaining two minutes of action. The 2-1 score for the Red Bulls victory ends the match in Jose Alvalade.
