The NBA Board of Governors meeting is scheduled for Thursday

The NBA has scheduled a special Board of Governors meeting for Thursday morning, reports ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski (Link to Twitter).

Although Woj has not provided further details, it is safe to assume that the owners of the NBA team will discuss the next steps after the players boycotted the three playoff games on Wednesday. Orlando’s players and coaches will meet Wednesday night to discuss their action plan, so the direction of Thursday’s meeting could be largely dictated by the decisions made tonight.

Despite speculation from some players that the rest of the 2019/20 season is in jeopardy, a “sizable” number of players are claiming to complete the season. Wojnarowski reports (via Twitter) that there is also a feeling within the Bucks – the team that started today’s boycotts – who want to continue playing in Orlando.

Earlier this evening, Bucks players called on the Wisconsin state legislature to meet again to address “issues of police accountability, brutality and criminal justice reform.” If players ultimately decide to complete the season, they can first request similar action from other state governments.

If players decide not to finish the season, they would create major wage cap and collective bargaining complications in the future, such as Arizona Sports 98.7’s John Gambadoro. tweets.
