Jurgen Klopp is under contract with Liverpool until 2024 but there is no guarantee he will be at the club after that.
Just like with player recruiting – Kostas Tsimikas, for example, who was tracked down for three years before joining from Olympiacos – the Reds will have a range of candidates in their sights, be it for 2024 or beyond. Klopp should sign another extension.
Among them are likely those who have worked with the Red Bull clubs who, thanks to the work of Ralf Rangnick, who recently left RB Leipzig but worked there for five years, play a similar style of football to Klopp’s Liverpool.
Rangnick, who implemented the style of play across the Red Bull group, was the man who inspired Klopp’s tactical blueprint, and Anfield’s ties to Red Bull Salzburg and RB Leipzig in particular are very strong.
On a special podcast on the relationship between the Red Bull clubs and Liverpool FC, Josh Williams said: “Liverpool have become a dominant team with the ball over the past 18 months.
“But before that they were certainly a very aggressive, intense team – they didn’t care if they lost the ball because they would just shut you down and win you back.
“Liverpool, which has owned over the years, was very, very similar to Salzburg and Leipzig, and without the ball it’s the same – the pushing is ingrained in the likes of Takumi Minamino, Naby Keita and Sadio Mane. When those players go to Liverpool come on, you don’t start from scratch – you start from a distance.
“The Red Bull clubs are very good at targeting coaches who represent their football brand and so are the players. It’s almost like a university system where they go from club to club and it seems like the years go by To have become Liverpool. ” the Ph.D. Default.
“It’s the same with the coaches: Jesse Marsch prevailed, Marco Rose in Mönchengladbach was also in Salzburg and was poached. They’re really good at finding coaches who represent this kind of football.
“Therefore, Liverpool should take note of these coaches: I assume that Liverpool will continue to be represented after Jürgen Klopp.

“If Liverpool want to stay very modern and forward-looking, it makes perfect sense to look at the Red Bull clubs and see who they appoint.”
When Liverpool look to the Red Bull group there is one candidate that stands out from the rest. Julian Nagelsmann is the most advanced in his development as manager coach to have come through Red Bull Clubs.
He started his career at Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga before moving to Leipzig. What has happened to the German team since then is perhaps the biggest indicator that he would be a leading contender for the Liverpool job.
Williams added: “Without the ball, Red Bull clubs will always have an urgent game – close high on the field and force mistakes and hopefully get a goal from those mistakes.”

With the transition from Leipzig to a more controlled and dominant style, Liverpool is also under Klopp. His assistant Pep Lijnders was also instrumental in this transformation and the Dutchman will be another leading candidate for the lead role.
Both Lijnders and Nagelsmann have proven that they understand the tactical path Liverpool have been taking lately and will likely want to keep going.
Nagelsmann, however, has the advantage of being proven number one at the highest level.
