Brad Fittler, Origin coach for New South Wales Origin, is concerned that the strict biosecurity measures the players live under could lead some of the game’s biggest stars to turn down an Origin shirt.
Players are currently living in a bubble that keeps them from doing everyday things like eating in a coffee shop or visiting extended families and friends.
These logs will continue after the grand finale on October 25th for the players selected on the NSW and Qld Origin teams.

This year, Origin will be played for three consecutive weeks starting November 4th. Those who don’t play a final are expected to go to camp on October 19th.
Fittler said the Sun Herald roster would grow to 27 for both states. However, he expects some players – especially those who may not be guaranteed a place in the finals – to hit back the opportunity to get out of the bubble for good.
“They followed some strict protocols so I’m preparing for anything,” said Fittler.
“I can see that there are going to be some tough conversations. Players cannot go in motivated because if you are not motivated you will not be good and it will be too difficult.
“It is going to be difficult.
“Guys are being taken away from their families again, and I know it will be difficult. Another five weeks, that’s a big question.
“But it’s also a good year playing Origin. Everyone’s had a pretty shitty year. The tough ones will definitely get up this year. “
