Continuity in the NFL can be vastly overrated. Owners, general managers, and coaches often prefer familiarity over change. They jump through the hoops to explain the reasoning for past failures and rationalize why the future will be different.

Sometimes patience pays off, and other times it just delays the inevitable.

This year, however, presents a different kind of challenge. Teams have to contend with shortened offseason, unique circumstances in training camp and no preseason. It’s reasonable to think that teams with some degree of continuity – whether with programs, staff, or coaches – will have an advantage over teams trying to implement a plethora of changes.

So how do you measure which teams have the most continuity and which have the least? Here are three key factors.
