Italian Open 2020 declaration

The tournament in Rome will begin on 20 September and will run until 27 of the same month. The organizing committee in Italy believes that it is not advisable and safe to host tournaments with spectators. They think that social distancing is not practical in large sporting events. They also want to avoid spreading the virus as much as possible.

So they came up with the model to go without spectators for their 2020 season. Italy was one of the countries most affected by COVID-19 and right now the country is free from coronaviruses. (As stated by La Repubblica)
