MANILA, Philippines – The Alabang Country Club in Muntinlupa and the Orchard Golf and Country Club in Cavite reported COVID-19 cases among their players and guests over the weekend, bringing the number of golf clubs affected by those to three cases after the quarantine restrictions eased last May.

Unlike Orchard, which was forced to temporarily close operations for disinfection and other safety measures, Alabang opted to keep its facilities open, including the clubhouse, while maintaining continuous sanitation and disinfection measures to protect the club members and their respective families.

Ayala Greenfield in Laguna also imposed a two-day blockade last week after a guest tested positive for the virus. After the fumigation of the club house and tee houses, the club reopened last Saturday, but only members were allowed to play.

“We conducted contract research on all of our employees who came into contact with the affected person and are all subject to a 14-day quarantine,” said Ayala Greenfield in a statement.

“You will also be required to undergo a COVID test before you can return to work, while all members who have come into contact with the person will also have to follow the protocol,” he added.

CC Alabang actually reported two COVID cases in three days after the club informed its membership of two members who contracted the virus with COVID Alabang committee chairman, dr. Marc Reyes, who reported a third positive case yesterday.

In the club’s director, Reyes said that “based on the information provided, this member had contracted the virus outside our premises.”

Reyes, however, still urged members to “act responsibly and be more forthright about the health statement as requested by the club.”

“If you suspect having an exposure and / or have taken the COVID-19 test and are awaiting results, please self-quarantine already. It is always better to err on the side of caution rather than endanger yourself and others, “Reyes said.

Orchard, meanwhile, was again hit by another COVID-19 case of a member, prompting Lucia’s Sta. Club to impose a two-day shutdown (yesterday and today) for disinfection and sanitation protocols. health. It will resume operations tomorrow (Wednesday).

The member, who performed a swab test on July 13, continued playing on July 14 and then again on July 18 in Orchard, before his positive result was released yesterday.
