Dortmund-PSG (1-0): “We have to go for this final,” urges Luis Enrique

PSG is still far from Wembley and the Champions League final. At half-time of the semi-final against Dortmund, it is the Ruhr club which is currently qualified. Borussia won (1-0) this Wednesday at Signal Iduna Park and will approach the return leg, on May 7 at the Parc des Princes, with increased confidence. Here are the statements of Luis Enrique, the PSG coach, at a press conference after the match.

Why did you only make one change (Randal Kolo Muani in place of Bradley Barcola), apart from the forced one to replace Lucas Hernandez?

LUIS ENRIQUE. Before judging the changes, we must judge the match. We had a lot of chances to score in a balanced match for both teams. I would have signed to have so many opportunities.

Do you still hope to reverse the result in the second leg?

I’m sure it’s the first time Borussia will be playing away in the competition. For us, it will be the first time at home. We have nothing more to lose. We will try to win this match. The atmosphere was exceptional from the Germans and our 3000 supporters. I think the match will be open.

Is Lucas Hernandez already out for the return match?

I have no further news; you have to wait for the exams.

“It has nothing to do with tactics, we were unlucky to score.”

What was your idea in midfield?

Our objective was to press Dortmund. They can play long and pass short. Dortmund works very well. We lacked offensive intensity in the first half and it was better in the second half.

How do you explain the first period, is it due to the increased pressure on your team?

Players are not robots or machines. We lacked intensity in the face of an atmosphere against us. We were not incisive. I have nothing to reproach with the state of mind of my players in the second half. It has nothing to do with tactics, we were unlucky to score.

Why did you harangue the Ultras at the end?

3000 Parisian fans did not stop singing (Editor’s note: there were 4000). There will be 47,000 on their return and 3,000 Germans. We must make our fans proud and go for this final.
