The 32-year-old champion snowboarder stopped responding after drowning off Palm Beach

Olympic snowboarder Alex “Chumpy” Pullin is said to have drowned on the Gold Coast.

The 32-year-old experienced freediver no longer responded to spearfishing on an artificial reef off Palm Beach.

Paramedics were called to Palm Beach around 10:30 a.m. today after a drowning incident on 19th Avenue.

Lifeguards and paramedics performed CPR for 45 minutes, but he could not be saved.

Pullin was two-time boardercross world champion and three-time Olympic champion.

Just two weeks ago, Pullin shared a photo of himself on Instagram spearfishing off the Gold Coast.

“Unreal day in the sea, whales sing and break around us,” he wrote.

“Hang out with great people and bring a lot of fish every week.”
