Kovac is about to sign abroad

Niko Kovac is apparently the new coach for the French first division football club AS Monaco. As the newspaper “L’Équipe” reports, the former coach of Bayern Munich and Eintracht Frankfurt will succeed Robert Moreno. The Croatian is supposed to sign a contract in the principality on Saturday.

Kovac had inherited Jupp Heynckes for the 2018/19 season at Bayern. In his first year he won the double. After a disappointing start to the following season and a 1: 5 loss at his former club Frankfurt, with which he won the DFB Cup in 2018, Kovac was released in Munich in early November. His assistant coach Hansi Flick replaced him.

Moreno, who had only taken on the job in Monaco at the beginning of the year, was informed of the decision on Saturday afternoon. The Monegasque ended the season in Ligue 1, which had been canceled due to the corona crisis, in ninth place in the table.

Rangnick asks for contract termination

Former Bundesliga coach Ralf Rangnick is apparently negotiating with Red Bull about the termination of his three-year contract as “Head of Sport and Development Soccer”. This is reported by the “Gazzetta dello Sport”. If both sides agree, the way would be clear for a change to the Italian club AC Milan, which apparently wants to use the 62-year-old as coach and sports director. Milan, which is currently being coached by Stefano Pioli, is still fighting for the qualification for the Europa League five matchdays before the end of the season.

Idol before moving to Spain?

After saying goodbye to Borussia Dortmund, Mario Götze will continue his career abroad according to information from “Bild”. “The hottest tracks lead to Florence and Monaco,” it says. The TV channel “Sky” seems likely to switch to Sevilla FC. The 28-year-old winning goal scorer in the 2014 World Cup final against Argentina had recently been repeatedly speculated.

Casillas before returning to Real Madrid

After five years at FC Porto, goalkeeper idol Iker Casillas apparently returns to Spain as a consultant to his home club Real Madrid. The 39-year-old will finally end his career as a professional footballer and will be with the Royal Club ambassador and adviser to club president Florentino Pérez, the TV channel “Cuatro”, the newspaper “Marca” reported. Initially, neither Casillas nor Real Madrid commented on the reports.

The 2010 world champion did not play a game after the heart attack he suffered during training last May. At the time, doctors warned Casillas against continuing his career.
