Nemadji golf course closes club house and restaurant after staff members tested positive for COVID-19

The Nemadji golf course in Superior will close its clubhouse and restaurant after a staff member has tested positive for COVID-19.

While the golf course will remain open, people wishing to play golf will need to check in at the golf shop window. Collection food orders can be made and beverage carts will continue to operate.

The staff member’s work area has been closed and will be “thoroughly cleaned and disinfected” and all staff who have come into contact with the infected person will be tested, the golf course said.

“We are taking these steps with extreme caution and to comply with our COVID-19 guidelines,” said the golf course on Facebook. “The safety of our guests and staff is always our top priority.”

According to the golf course, the staff member is not currently showing any symptoms of COVID-19 and will self-quarantine and return to work for no more than two weeks after reporting at least two negative tests.

The announcement came during a wave of COVID-19 cases in Douglas County and as a number of bars in the Upper voluntarily closed after people associated with the positions tested positive for COVID-19.

As of Saturday, a total of 39 COVID-19 cases have been reported in Douglas County, according to the Department of Health Services of Wisconsin.

The county has seen 19 new cases in the past nine days, nearly doubling its total of 20 registered cases through June 25. Before June 25, the county spent nearly three weeks without a new case of illness.

There were no new cases in Douglas County reported by the state on Saturday.
