Club Escacs Gerunda took part in the Spanish Under-10 Championship, which ended yesterday in Salobrenya (Granada). Girona’s Mauro Alonso, one of the youngest players in the region with the most projection, was fifth in Spain with 6.5 points in 9 games and at the same time being the under-9 runner-up. The winner of the under-10 category was the Catalan Àlex Villa, who clearly dominated. Recently, the Spanish Under-8 Championship was also held and Adrià Colón, the only one from Girona, finished in 45th position.
