Have the Packers made a decision on the split-team option offered by the NFL? I see that the roster is still quite complete. Does that mean the team will use that option rather than the 80 man limit?
Because July 28 has come and gone and the Packers haven’t gone down to 80, my understanding is that they will need to be part of the separate squad for all practice on the field. But they can reduce to 80 at any time and then merge into one, and each team will have to be reduced to 80 anyway by August 16, just before the padded workouts start.

Chris d’Eau Claire throwing Florida State under the bus for Florida Marlins trouble is too easy. No player, coach or team member has tested positive before playing in Atlanta for an exhibition game en route to Philadelphia. They could have contracted it at the airport, in the locker rooms in Atlanta, etc. Yet no Philly player or coach has tested positive since the Marlins left Philly. Why? This shows how unpredictable this virus can be and is.
Amen. Assumptions, besides taking every precaution as much as possible being the best course of action, are of no use in trying to learn and manage this thing.
While working at Lambeau Field after a game, I noticed the way the wind turned differently. Mason Crosby and JK Scott would they train more at Lambeau to see the difference that the lack of crowd has on the stadium?
They have practiced a lot there with no crowds in the past, and I’m sure it will continue. I don’t think they care if it will be any different with or without fans. It’s about gauging the conditions on that day and trying to figure them out, whatever the circumstances.
Hey guys, I know nobody’s Tyreek Hill except No.10 for the KC Chiefs, and I know Tyler Ervin is an RB, not a WR, and I know a great way to losing to a 2020 squad is to prepare for a 2019 squad, and I know having that many qualifiers probably means it’s not a good question, but I can’t help but ask you: do you see Swervin ‘ Ervin as a potential offensive weapon comparable to a hill?
In a very limited niche role, of course. With 109 touches like Hill in 2018 (87 receptions, 22 rushes)? No way, not with Aaron Jones and Davante Adams on this team.
How long have you studied for your Covid test?
Won’t the lack of pre-season games affect the coaches? I always thought they used these games to improve the administration of the game. Just getting the right players in at the right time is a coordinating effort of all coaches and players.
Indeed. At the start of McCarthy’s tenure, I remember he had “simulated play” segments in practice to work on this, even after preseason games where the roster was reduced to 53. Another thing to consider in preparedness plans.
Sometimes when a coin gains a bundle of yards, a commentator will say, “What a well-designed coin.” If the same game fails later in the game, has it suddenly gone “poorly designed”?
I have never seen a part that works every time.
The mention of the “rookie wall” made me wonder: who, especially among the Packers rookies of the past, stood out as the true supporters, those for whom there didn’t seem to be a wall? As always, love your writing and the free grammar lessons that come with it!
The most important name that comes to mind is always Eddie Lacy. His ankle was a mess at the end of his rookie year and he kept beating. You get humor credit for hanging a preposition while commenting on grammar lessons. It had to be intentional.
