“Arsenal should bet £ 20 million on Stones” – Parlor urges the Gunners to fight West Ham for the city center

The Hammers are said to have an offer on the table for the English international, but Mikel Arteta is also on the market for another defender

Arsenal must “take the opportunity” on John Stones and join West Ham in a £ 20 million ($ 26 million) run through Manchester city center, says Ray Parlor.

It is reported that the Hammers have prepared an offer for the English international which Pep Guardiola deems acceptable.

Cities are on the market for defensive additions and can try to free up funds and space on their team by moving stones.

Various landing points have been questioned for the 26-year-old, with a return to Everton speculated in one step.

Arsenal has also been linked with the defender caught on a regular basis over the years and a door of opportunity could open up.

Mikel Arteta was invited to tap losses in his bottom line at the Emirates Stadium, with Parlor arguing that Stones could be the perfect choice at a relatively reasonable price.

Former winger Gunners said talkSPORT: “It would be very useful for West Ham if they could get John Stones for £ 20 million.

“Especially when you watch Nathan Ake going to town for £ 40 million …

“Arsenal are desperate for a half-way, so why not take a chance and try to bid on Stones?

“He’s had a bad time in recent years and hasn’t really gone where City thought he could go, but you don’t become a bad defender overnight, he just needs some coaching.

“And this is where he could be the key to Arsenal, because obviously Arteta has worked with him in Man City for the past few years.

“But if West Ham were able to get it at that price it would be a great deal, an absolutely brilliant deal.”

Parlor isn’t the first former Arsenal star to suggest that the Gunners should be on the Stones market, with Paul Merson another one who pushed Arteta to make a move.

She said the star of the day: “They need a central defender, a central midfielder and another striker. The whole backbone of the team really.

“And I think he could go for John Stones to Manchester City. Pep Guardiola doesn’t seem to trust him and Arteta has already worked with him.

“Arsenal needs a defender, another David Luiz who can play the ball from behind but makes many mistakes.

“But Stones is English, young enough to improve, and Arteta will know all about him and know that he fits the system.”
