Atalanta-PSG: “We are going to have difficulties”, promises Thiago Silva

A few minutes after the draw for the quarter-finals of the Champions League, Thiago Silva analyzed on the microphone of PSG TV the match which will see the French champion face Atalanta Bergamo on August 12 in Lisbon. A special meeting for the Brazilian captain who extended his contract by a few weeks to play his last matches in the club jersey during this European “Final 8”.

What do you think of the draw?

THIAGO SILVA. Everyone deserves to be there. Bergamo offers a lot offensively, they have one of the best scorers of the competition (Editor’s note: Ilicic) and the three attackers in front go very quickly. We’re going to have difficulties. But it will be an open match because they play ball and so do we.

How do you see the return to competition with the prospect of the national cup finals and then the Champions League?

If we do a good preparation, we will be at the level. We have quality players, but we have to work. Quality is not enough. We are on the right track. It gives a little more confidence. We have to approach it in the best possible way. The two finals are very important, especially for me. I will do everything to win them.

Do you regret that the Champions League takes place behind closed doors?

This year is special. We have to focus on us. Playing a Champions League match without supporters is difficult. For us as for the adversary. But we know that our supporters will be with us in spirit.
