Are you crazy, my brother ?: Readers get excited about fans during matches, demonstrations, anti-maskers, Cam Newton and… Dan Marino?

There is no reason to ask if you were crazy this week. Everyone got angry at something at some point.

The number of coronaviruses has increased. The bars were closed again. A partial quarantine trip has resumed.

Worse yet, the New England Patriots have improved in the quarterback!

Yuck! What a terrible week. Here’s how you reacted in “U mad, bro?”

Harry doesn’t buy the hype surrounding Cam Newton going to the Patriots. He thinks I’m off base, suggesting that the former Carolina Panthers quarterback will make New England three or four wins better than they would have been with Jarrett Stidham under the center.

And that could have an impact where the Steelers end up in the playoff tree. If they do it at all.

Same impact on the Steelers as Dan Marino.

See: No Super Bowl wins.

Life is about winning. No participation trophies.

See: James Harrison.

I saw James Harrison, Harry. And – as tall as he was – he would only have won participation trophies if he didn’t have a Pro Bowl quarterback to complete his standout defense all these years here in Pittsburgh.

Newton may no longer be a Pro Bowler. But he is better than Stidham.

Now let’s move on to your analogy with Dan Marino. Marino had an impact on the Steelers. He touched them for 421 yards and four touchdowns in the 1984 AFC Championship game.

Admittedly, Marino has never won a Super Bowl and has only made one during his career. Likewise, however, the Steelers have never won a Super Bowl and have only made one during their career.

I’m not saying Newton makes the Patriots a Super Bowl competitor again. I say he again makes him a candidate for the playoffs.

The one that could end with a record very similar to the Steelers.

John was curious to know how angry the reaction was against my column on Tuesday. It was the prospect that the Steelers manage to attract fans to Heinz Field for the games this year.

“I’m aware – mainly of your” U Mad, Bro? “columns – you get a ration of irrational and hateful emails with just about every item you write.

Please enlighten us on the reader’s response to this since you, timidly however, threw POSSIBILITY that the protests are at least partly responsible for the recent peaks of lust.

I have the distinct impression that such thinking is not even allowed, let alone discussed openly. I would be interested to know the number and the INTENSITY of the negative responses you receive.

Keep up the good work,

John “

I don’t have a “ration” of irrational emails, John. I get a glutton’s share.

However, they were practically nonexistent after this play. The flashback I got on this piece actually came before him when I expressed these opinions on Twitter.

It is not a coincidence. Because if you read what I wrote in the column, there is no way to challenge the logic or the link between allowing the crowd in the stadiums and the mass gatherings of people walking on the streets.

You cannot deny the existence of data to support one as allegedly harmless, while rejecting the other as a glaring risk.

In a column, I have the luxury of space and time to put forward my arguments. In a tweet, it looks like a “hot plug” of 280 characters.

Also, if someone sends me an email, it’s private correspondence. No one can see it. There is no possibility of reporting virtue in an email.

Conversely, it is the main function of Twitter. So why bother sending an email if no one can give you the “like” or retweet reward? Right?

The column never said that the protests should not have happened. The column never said that protests were the main reason why the number of covid-19 increased. But that nuance could be lost on Twitter.

So what I’m saying is if you want to see hatred spreading against me about this opinion, just check out my Twitter interactions.

It won’t be difficult to find.

Speaking of Twitter, “BingeBreaker” takes stock of the mask debate. If Heinz Field finally allows fans, could they stay hidden all the time?

Surprisingly, BingeBreaker, I haven’t gotten much of that. I think the anti-masquerading crowd was just happy to see someone make their voices heard about the government’s apparent hypocrisy surrounding mass rallies over previously stated social distancing goals.

So they swallowed their usual responses “I am a modern Mel Gibson in” The Patriot “so as not to wear a mask” for one day.

Mark is trying to avoid going too crazy because of the loss of the NFL preseason Hall of Fame Game.

“What do you say about that? Ask all NFL teams to play weeks 1 and 3 of the preseason – allowing all teams two weeks between games to assess Covid-19 concerns before starting the regular season game.

Also allowing competition instead of “just camping”. We still have a lot of time to modify the interior and exterior appearance. “

Not a bad idea, Mark. Allow a window of about 14 days to see if infections are increasing.

I get it. I see you working.

Can I offer you another idea? No preseason games at all.

I know I know. This year, beyond all the others, preseason football is gaining importance due to the lack of training time. Okay, 100%. And it looks like the league only has two preseason games.

However, I would say not to run the risk of epidemics of infection on meaningless games. I say playing weeks 1 and 2 cold as the NCAA does. Then you will have an infection sample size at week 3.

And if it’s horrible and the league has to stop it, at least you’ve had two weeks of national television revenue. You wouldn’t have that during the preseason.

Finally, Marvin reacted to some photos I posted from Pittsburgh International Airport at 11:30 am Tuesday.

No seriously. I am not joking. This place still exists. They did not close it.

Again.

But it was a ghost town. Apocalyptic limit.

I keep my social distance from statues these days, Marvin. They are the only thing more politically sensitive than masks at this point.

I think Franco Harris is safe. We will see about George Washington. Anyway, I wish them both good luck.

These guys have been going up there for years, right? They shouldn’t hang out at an airport.

The risk of exposure is too great!
