Referee with Leeds United history appointed to fight Luton Town

Leeds United is back in action this week when Marcelo Bielsa’s team receives Luton Town on Elland Road on Tuesday evening.

Whites will try to pick up speed after Saturday’s 3-0 win over Fulham on Saturday when they greet Nathan Jones’ relegated Hatters in West Yorkshire.

Leeds starts the middle of the week with a three-point lead at the top and an eight-point lead over the formidable Brentford in third place. They know that a win will further improve their eligibility for promotion.

The EFL has confirmed its referee dates for this week’s games, with John Brooks named as the middle man for the Tuesday night duel.

Brooks took on the second leg on Kenilworth Road in November, where Bielsa’s men needed an own goal in added time to score a 2-1 win over the Hatters.

Previously, he led Leeds’ visit to Charlton Athletic in September, the game in which the incident between Kiko Casilla and Johnathan Leko took place, resulting in the United goalkeeper’s eight-game ban on the use of racial language was handed over.

Leeds lost this game 1-0. This was the third game in a row they had lost with Brooks’ supervision.
