Nice operation by Milan against Roma

To continue believing in a Europa League presence next year, AC Milan had to take the upper hand over AS Roma this Sunday. The task was not easy, but the Lombards were able to accomplish it by making a very solid performance. Applied and patient, they resisted the Giallorossi before striking at the best time and snatching the victory.

The decisive goal was scored by Ante Rebic fifteen minutes from the end. The Croatian, a real surface fox, took back in two stages a ball deviated by the Roman defense more one flight from Franck Kessie.

Even if the Wolf had been the most enterprising so far, this opening score was not stolen for the locals. In the 1st period, they were close to finding the fault twice with tests of Bonaventure (27th) and Calhanoglu (36th). And at the return of the locker room, before the first goal, Calhanoglu (65th), again him, and Lucas Paqueta (67th) carried the danger in front, but Mirante had taken care of the grain.

At 1-0, we thought Roma left to fight. It was not really the case. While they had managed to be threatening before, notably with a skirmish by Dzeko (20th), the Romans were no longer so when their backs to the wall. On the contrary, they collapsed. In the 88th, Chris Smalling dropped Théo Hernandez into the box, and Calhanoglu then stepped forward to transform the penalty and seal the fate of the game.

By winning, Milan (7th) returned six points from their opponent of the day in the ranking (5th). Since there are still ten days to go, Stefano’s team Pioli can still perfectly believe in a qualification for the Europa League. For the C1, it is another pair of sleeves, but the thin hope remains of stake.
