Manchester United fans have asked Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to find a place for Brandon Williams on his side.
As United prepares to travel to Brighton and Hove Albion in the Premier League on Tuesday night, Solskjaer may be considering major changes – after making eight of them for the FA Cup draw in Norwich on Saturday.
United took a 2-1 win on Carrow Road, but it took extra time to defeat Daniel Farke’s stubborn team.
Full-back Williams was one of the few side players to impress in Norwich. He came into play for Diogo Dalot as a right-back. However, whether he comes to the side of Aaron Wan-Bissaka or Luke Shaw seems uncertain. It remains to be seen whether Solskjaer will return to the eleven who started their more comfortable 3-0 win over Sheffield United last Wednesday.
United’s fans are clearly looking forward to Williams, who has not started a game since restarting football after a three-month break. The 19-year-old was one of the season’s breakthrough stars.
MEN Sport asked United fans in a Twitter poll: “Which of these Manchester United players deserved the most to get into the Premier League against Brighton? (Comment for others).”
Williams, Fred, Scott McTominay and Odion Ighalo were the options, with the youngster receiving more than 40 percent of the vote. Ighalo surveyed 25 percent, Fred almost 19 percent and McTominay 15.8 percent.
United’s former defender Wes Brown was one of those who praised Williams’ surprising impact and spoke about the versatile full-back in April.
“He really came out of nowhere,” Brown told United’s official website.
“At the start of the season, Mason Greenwood was the next young player to get a lot of attention because everyone knew about him in youth football. His goal record was fantastic at all levels and he had a little taste of last season’s first team, so there was an expectation that he would do well this season. However, Brandon came in and made his move from the first game he played.
“He was right there. Not many people knew who he was, but he did fantastic things every time he played. It’s like he’s been playing at this level for a long time. “”
