For his part, Leduc recently made headlines by achieving three goals in the space of a 100 meter race in April in Louisiana. Three weeks after setting a provincial record in her first outdoor outing of the season, the Gatineau sprinter posted an impressive time of 10.96 seconds at the LSU Alumni Gold, a track and field meet held in Baton Rouge. She thus ran the 100 m under the 11 second mark, established the Canadian record for the distance and, above all, achieved the Olympic standard.

Leduc will compete for the title of Outstanding Female Athlete with Jayda Veinot (University of New Brunswick), Sara Rohr (Brock University) and Katalin Tolnai (University of British Columbia).

The Lois and Doug Mitchell Award winners will be announced at a ceremony in Calgary on June 10.
