Substitutes made the difference when Chelsea and Arsenal both won away from home to reach the semi-finals of the FA Cup on Sunday.

Chelsea midfielder Ross Barkley scored a cross from Willian midway through the second half in a 1-0 win against the weak Leicester.

Spanish midfielder Dani Ceballos scored an injury goal in a 2-1 win at Sheffield United, which had two goals scored offside from the video’s replay. Ceballos launched himself with a low shot, just four minutes after David McGoldrick had leveled at close range.

Later on Sunday, the Manchester City Cup holder was away in Newcastle.

In Bramall Lane, the penalty by striker Nicolas Pépé led Arsenal to halfway through the first half after United midfielder John Lundstram immediately knocked an offside. The header by United defender John Egan at the start of the second half was also canceled.

Arsenal have won the FA Cup a record 13 times, one more than Manchester United, who made it to the semi-finals with an overtime win against Norwich by ten men on Saturday.
