The achievement marks the first time in the history of Vietnamese badminton that a representative has reached the last eight of the men’s doubles event at the continental tournament.

Dinh Hoang and Dinh Manh secured their place in the next round with a 2-0 victory over Bangladesh’s Xhagorap and Jaman, winning in straight sets 21-16, 21-11. With this performance, the pair equaled the continental milestone previously established by legendary Vietnamese player Nguyen Tien Minh.
Quarterfinal Showdown Against Indonesia
The Vietnamese duo faces a difficult test in the quarterfinals against Indonesia’s Leo Rolly Carnando and Daniel Marthin, who enter the match ranked 46th in the world.

Meanwhile, the singles competition brought mixed results for the Vietnamese squad. In the women’s singles draw, top-ranked Vietnamese player Nguyen Thuy Linh opened her campaign with a 2-0 win over Indonesia’s Thailita Ramadhani. However, Thuy Linh’s run ended in the following round against Tokyo 2020 Olympic champion Chen Yufei of China. Thuy Linh pushed the Chinese star through a three-set match before falling 10-21, 24-22, 12-21.
Hai Dang Advances to Face Former World Number One
In the men’s singles tournament, Nguyen Hai Dang advanced past Tajikistan’s Abdulrakhimov Odilchon with a 2-0 victory, taking both sets by identical 21-6 scores. Hai Dang moves on to face former world number one Kunlavut Vitidsarn of Thailand in a decisive match for a quarterfinal berth.
