The success follows a busy stretch for Venezuelan archers on multiple fronts. At the Central American competitions, Fraiber Rodríguez and Ana Mendoza also secured a bronze medal in the mixed team compound event after a dramatic 155-155 tie against Mexico’s Rodrigo González and Andrea Becerra was decided by a closer shot to the X-ring. Rodríguez delivered the decisive center-target impact in the shoot-off to break the deadlock.
«We’ve been doing very arduous work with my partner», Rodríguez noted of the mixed team preparation. Mendoza acknowledged the caliber of the opposition faced during that tournament, pointing out that their Mexican opponents ranked among the top archers globally. The Venezuelan duo advanced to that stage by defeating El Salvador’s Douglas Nolasco and Camila Alvarenga 152-151 in the quarterfinals before falling 155-152 to Colombia’s Pablo Gómez and Sara López in the semifinals.
